Akani Aki_Malobola_Photo4_by_AkiI really want to blog right now. I mean really blog. It’s not that I have not been blogging all along. That I know is true. I am perhaps gracefully referring about taking this blogging to a higher level.

That’s what Akani “Aki” Malobola does to you… He inspires you to take whatever it is that God has given you and make something special out of it, as your love-gift to God. Aki is not the type of person you meet and forget.

On the contrary, his charisma, radio voice (that changes as soon as the microphone is turned on) and genuine care for other people make him the type of contact that fosters godly connections.

Even before my one-on-one with Aki at Impact Radio (103 FM), I used to – and still do – listen to uplifting words, worship and uplifting songs from his show. Even after the interview, the off-air Aki is one fixed on Christ.

When no one is watching (especially so), he volunteers and does his bit for the community. When he is no longer presenting and multitudes are not listening to his show, you will still hear him encouraging and off to consult with our Creator for decisions to be made.

He is humble. Rather than take on the interview at the first go, he first went to pray about it and see if this was the right season. Aki cares for his multitude of listeners and community on and off air.

Not that long ago, while indoors, I heard multiple gun shots outside in the vicinity. I posted a comment on Facebook inspired by that. Aki picked up the phone to check if I was okay. It seems like that is just who he is.

Dearest Wedding Anthem readers from all over the world, please welcome Aki into your heart. I have been patiently waiting for some time for this interview and now that it is here, I trust that you too will treasure it.

Tune into his show – you can stream in to listen to it LIVE from Impact Radio (103 FM)’s website. Leave him a comment below, drop him an email, and send him an SMS or inbox to let him know that his efforts are appreciated.

Here’s our exclusive interview with Aki!

In one sentence, who is Akani?
Akani is a young man who hopes to make a difference in the world, God-willing, as they say, by being an ordinary man doing extraordinary things.

Briefly tell our readers a little bit about you…
I'm a Christian radio presenter, speaker and youth worker who is very passionate about helping youngsters see beyond the screen of circumstance.

On a daily basis, I am a Marketing Coordinator for a Catholic radio station called Radio Veritas. I am currently studying towards my BBA Marketing Management degree through IMM. My main job is to be an ambassador for God, I'm still in training though.

Can you please tell your fans what you have been up to and/or what's next?
Well, I have just moved from the Saturday evening slot on Impact 103 to a morning slot (this is a huge achievement for me!) and I have just landed a talk show aimed at young people on Radio Veritas.

Something very close to my heart is the NPO [Non-Profit Organization] that we have started and I'm hoping for it to make a huge difference. It's meant to inspire young people to “lead from within” and hopefully soon enough we will get the right support to run leadership camps.

I love feeling like a conqueror, so my next step is to get over my nerves and get into television acting, it has been a secret desire for many years. I'm also going to be writing a book in the coming times. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I am looking to turn my passion into a business too!

How do you find a balance between what you do and who you are?
I've worked in places which “contradicted” who Aki is and I didn't stay for very long. What I do is a reflection of who I am. In those times where I realize that there is an imbalance, my faith carries me. Somehow it just happens; God has my back, so I try my best not to worry about that too much. The trick is to know who you are and move from there.

We celebrate love. Do you think true love exists? If so, Who/what/where is it?
Of course love exists! When last did you look in the mirror? You are love.

I find my love in Him who created me. God is love. I was created in His image and likeness and thus I am love. My responsibility is to share that love especially with those who don't recognize love.

It's in your favorite tastes and smells, those moments that make you smile. Love is wherever we allow for it to be. It is in the deepest hurt, in the greatest fear and in the darkest space. Love is not conditional in any way. It just is. Love at the beginning and love at the end.

Do you think there is still a place for marriage in this day-and-age?
Yes. In nursery school they asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, there were only two things – 1) A lion and 2) A Husband/Father. We just need to forget what the world defines as a good marriage. We should let go of our pride and the “street cred” that sometimes dictates our way of living and loving. Just love, freely.

Do you have a message to Wedding Anthem?
I love what you are doing! It's pretty cool to see and know that love is being promoted and I love that it isn't placed in a box. May God bless all the work of your hands!

Thank you. Amen. Anything else on your mind?
I'd like to share something with you... I hope it gives you hope.

I was once the most anti-social person in the world, speaking to people other than my family was a huge problem for me. As a young boy it took me two weeks to prepare myself to greet someone new. I allowed the world to define me by telling me how uncool and abnormal I was, it was so bad that I believed this lie for 18 years of my life...

One day God whispered in my ear and made me realize that I was actually living a lie. He started off by introducing me to people with my best interests at heart and also those who would be there just for a moment (to teach me a lesson or two).

I began to open up to the idea of me being better than I thought I was and things got so good that I began to lie to myself again, this time thinking I could do it all by myself and I actually placed my esteem in the hands of the cool people around me, depending on them to make me happy - I failed here again.

Someday, after going through so many trials and tribulations (which are somehow always to be expected) I began to see WHO I AM and WHOSE I AM, that is when things began to change as I dedicated my life to God and surrendered everything to Him.

I'm now 23. God has placed me on an amazing journey of self-discovery and God-discovery. It's been extremely rocky BUT God always has a plan! In the last few years I went from the AVERAGE student in school to TOP graduate in varsity. SHY around even my friends to RADIO Presenter on two Christian Radio Stations.

I went from UNCOOL to having experienced those opportunities that only the COOL were supposedly entitled to. I thought that only the rich could go to Cape Town on holiday, but my GOD took me much further than that - my first flight was to South America.

I've been HURT by friends and family and now I'm HEALING, I was UNEMPLOYED at a stage and the people who could help wouldn’t, but by GOD'S GRACE I became EMPLOYED with offers coming in abundance.

I'm not bragging! I want YOU to see how GREAT OUR GOD IS! He will take you as you are and take you places, show you things you never imagined!

IT’S CALLED FAVOUR! GODS GRACE IS AMAZING AND FREE!!! All you need to do is surrender to Him... GOD is GOOD!
