Scarlet resizedI am reminded of the words of our former South African President, which resound that "I am an African". In as much as this portal celebrates true love which is not confined to demographical and physical divide; I am extremely honoured to welcome a fellow African to our most beloved Wedding Anthem readers.

I am indeed an African and it is so humbling to showcase a young talented African lady who is pushing her limits and leaving a mark on this continent. It is not only the Zambian flag that she is raising high, but that of Africa as a whole. Among others, she has worked with South African born singer Zahara and internationally acclaimed Keny Lattimore (recently featured on Wedding Anthem).

There's so much I could say about her, but I will let the well atticulated star speak on her own behalf. What a gem! What a moment! An African in every right, a believer, a woman. Here's Scarlet!

In one sentence, who are you?
Scarlet is a strong, talented, beautiful, unique woman, daughter, sister, friend and a testimony of God's love and grace.

Briefly, please tell our readers a little bit about you...
Scarlet is a singer, songwriter, performing and recording artist, poet, blogger, voice over artist and radio presenter. I have been active on the Zambian music scene since 2010. My genre is described as an eclectic mix of afro-funk, soul and jazz with a splash of reggae and I sing about many different themes ranging from love to issues affecting society.

I am inspired by many different things and write and co-produce most of my music and my shows. I love LIVE music! It's my blood! Performing is the most exhilirating thing for me. My highest moments were performing as the in-house entertainment for the CNN African Journalist of the Year Awards Sponsor's Dinner in 2012, opening for Zahara in 2013 when she came to Zambia and also for Kenny Lattimore.

I am a member of the Lusaka Hub of the Global Shapers Community, I sit on the YALI Youth Ambassador Council of the United States Embassy in Zambia and am also an ambassador for Girls Stand Up and the Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation here in Zambia. In my spare time, I read and spend time with friends and family cooking, entertaining, watching movies and hanging out.

Can you please tell your fans what you have been up to and/or what's next?
At the moment I am in the process of tying up the loose ends of my new-branding exercise. I am also writing music for my sophomore album to be released mid 2015. I am concentrating on making good music and living a healthy and progressive and peaceful life in every area including my work and home life.

How do you find a balance between what you do and who you are?
I strike a balance between the two by trying to not keep them so separate. I believe in living authentically in every thing that I do. So the me that you see on stage and on radio is the same person when I am at home, the only difference is the clothes :). I maintain my privacy however and keep my circle very tight. I love what I do, so I have made it a way of life.

We celebrate love. Do you think true love exists? If so, Who/what/where is it?
True love definitely exists and should be fought for, defended and appreciated. It's one of those blessings that you can't ever live without. God Himself is the epitome of Love. Patience, kindness, goodness, humility, honesty, loyalty, respect, trust and sacrifice are all part of what makes love real to me. Am I in love? Yes I am. Love is in all the things and people that you would give your life for. I always say the only way it will work is if you treat me how you want to be treated. That's how love should be.

Do you think there is still a place for marriage in this day-and-age?
I think that the meaning and significance of marriage has been watered down from what it was in 1985 to what it is today, but I definitely believe in it. I definitely believe that the right woman can change a man's life and nurture his dreams and his purpose. I also believe that the right man can bring out the best in a woman and propel her into fulfilling her destiny as "woman" on this earth. I know its difficult to actually find the "right" man or woman, but when you do, keep them for life.

Do you have a message to Wedding Anthem?
I love everything wedding and I love "love" itself. So it makes me happy to know that there are people celebrating the values that make that connection important and allowing romantics like me to embrace that part of their humanity.

Awesome stuff, noted. Is there anything else on your mind?
